The monk informed Guangmu that all those who commit evil deeds in life will be sent to a place of punishment after death. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, however, is a great compassionate being in the underworld. He has made a great vow to save all sentient beings suffering in hell.

Inspired by the wise monk's words, Guangmu found a flicker of hope. Determined, she set out to seek Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva, pleading for his mercy to liberate her mother from the torments of the underworld.

After enduring countless hardships, Guangmu finally arrived at the entrance of hell. The place was dark, terrifying, and permeated by a thick stench of blood and decay. Though fear gnawed at her heart, Guangmu, driven by the thought of her suffering mother, summoned her courage and resolutely stepped inside.

Hell was a sea of raging flames, filled with countless ghosts writhing in agony and wailing in torment. With utmost care, Guangmu navigated through the infernal landscape, searching for the Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha.

After a long and arduous search, Guangmu finally encountered the Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha. Standing serenely on a lotus flower, the Bodhisattva's face radiated compassion and his eyes overflowed with mercy.

Guangmu hastily knelt before Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, her voice trembling as she recounted her mother's plight. Tears streamed down her face as she begged the bodhisattva to save her mother from the depths of hell. Ksitigarbha listened patiently, his compassionate eyes fixed upon her. With a heavy sigh, he replied, 'Your mother's sins are great, but your filial piety is commendable. I will give you a chance to help redeem her.'

Ksitigarbha explained that if Gwangmu could perform many good deeds in the mortal realm and accumulate sufficient merit, she could alleviate her mother's suffering and hasten her release from hell. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Gwangmu accepted a sutra and bowed deeply before the bodhisattva. With newfound hope, she turned and left the underworld.

After returning to the human world, Guangmu devoted herself to spiritual practice. She often volunteered in charity work, helping those in need and making a difference in their lives. As Guangmu's reputation grew, more and more people were inspired by her example and began to do good deeds.

Through her many years of practice, Guangmu had accumulated a great deal of merit. She returned to the underworld to find Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. When he saw her, Ksitigarbha smiled and said, 'I've seen how hard you've worked and how much you love your mother. Because of everything you've done, your mother's suffering is almost over, and she'll soon be free from hell.

After listening to what Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva had to say, Guangmu was overjoyed and thrilled. She thanked the Bodhisattva again and promised to keep practicing so she could help more people.

Touched by Guangmu's devotion and kindness, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva decided to take her on as his student and teach her more about Buddhism and its spiritual powers. From that point forward, Guangmu followed Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva and they worked together to save countless suffering souls from hell. With her compassion and wisdom, she eased the pain and suffering of many, becoming a hero to the people.
