Namo Amitabha
Namo Amitabha
Looking back at 2024, there seemed to be too much fear, restraint, and discomfort. Some people lost their lives in this year, some lost their livelihoods, and some people's life trajectories were changed. Almost everyone felt the preciousness of breathing freely and moving freely.
There is a little girl whose grandparents live in Wuhan. Her grandfather lost his life due to the epidemic this spring, but her mother was unable to fulfill her filial duties to the old man. Even her grandmother was unable to say her final goodbye to her husband, and she cannot collect his ashes in a short time.
Who would have thought that the Spring Festival would encounter traffic jams, and not only could families not be reunited, but they were also separated from each other in the blink of an eye. The pain of losing a loved one was accompanied by the worry of the epidemic. The loneliness, anxiety, regret and guilt invaded people's hearts .
Her mother was very depressed and could only chant Buddhist scriptures for the old man from afar. She asked me if I could do something good for the old man.
I could feel her eagerness and sincerity through the phone screen. Who doesn't want this disaster to pass quickly? In this epidemic, not only people, but also chickens, ducks, pigs, dogs, and bamboo rats and minks that were slaughtered and buried alive are struggling in misery.
I think that her mother's chanting of sutras at home can not only dedicate the merits to the deceased elderly, but also help her rely on the blessings and guidance of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to find sustenance in life and heal the wounds of her soul, which is reassuring.
If you still want to do something for the elderly, contact the temple to accumulate merit and help them to be liberated. Live a good life now, cherish this precious human life, and seize the opportunity to do good deeds.

Believe

It means believing in the enlightenment of the wise
believing in the enlightenment of the wise
believing in the enlightenment of the wise
I often sigh with people, "It's so hard to have leisure time, go to the Pure Land quickly." The so-called "leisure time" does not simply mean having free time, but more about having the opportunity to learn the way to liberation and to encounter the true method of escaping suffering and gaining happiness.
Every living being who is in a state of imperfection, imperfection, and discomfort in body and mind, hopes that we can hold the hand of Amitabha Buddha, be born in the Pure Land, never lose happiness, and finally attain great liberation.
"Amitabha", "Pure Land", do you believe that they exist?
Those who truly seek the true meaning of Buddhism know that suffering comes from each sentient being's own afflictions and karma. Simply relying on external forces to help cannot eradicate suffering, and simply changing the environment cannot cut off the invasion of afflictions.
This is precisely the special feature of the Pure Land. The Buddha knows that the good karma of sentient beings is weak and their afflictions are intense. It would be exhausting to struggle and endure suffering on their own, let alone cultivate good and eliminate confusion. Therefore, Amitabha Buddha, with his great compassion, wisdom and power, has created a safe and stable learning environment for sentient beings. This is not the illusory heaven imagined by heretics.
Believing in "Amitabha Buddha" and "Pure Land" means believing in the enlightenment of the wise - that one can be liberated from all worries and pains, believing in the compassion of the enlightened one - that one is willing to create favorable conditions for liberation for all beings, and believing in the power of the enlightened one - that one can use his thorough understanding of the law of cause and effect to create this pure land.
"The Pure Land", this name is full of attraction, giving hope of peace and liberation to every sentient being who wants to escape from suffering.
Although rebirth in the Pure Land does not mean that the roots of delusion, karma, and suffering have been completely eradicated, in such a pure environment, with the support of countless good friends, everyone who truly seeks liberation can often encounter favorable opportunities here, without any defilements, and can move forward wholeheartedly on the path to enlightenment.

Willing

Free from suffering and attain happiness is the wish of all sentient beings

I went to the hospital a few days ago, and when I came out it was raining. I saw an old barefoot woman squatting at the door of a small restaurant eating steamed buns. The color of her soles and insteps was very different. Perhaps she hadn't worn shoes for a long time. The steamed bun foam stuck to her mouth and the plastic bag like crumbs. I don't know how many days ago this steamed bun was.
I remembered that I had two biscuits in my bag, so I took them out and handed them to her, saying "Amitabha" twice. I saw her curled up in the corner, and she took the biscuits with an expressionless face. Her mouth moved a few times, and she seemed to say "Amitabha" a few times as well.
The two biscuits were very sweet. She hadn’t eaten such sweet food for a long time. But she was even happier that the seeds of Amitabha Buddha could be planted in her heart. The Saha world was too bitter.
There are many kinds of suffering, including the hardship of survival, the burden of illness, moral dilemmas, emotional pain, and the difficulty of spiritual practice...
"To be free from suffering and to attain happiness" is the wish of all sentient beings, and "to overcome all suffering" is the original intention of Buddhist practitioners. In order to enable all sentient beings to be free from suffering, some enlightened beings, like Sakyamuni Buddha, manifested themselves as Buddhas in the suffering world of the five turbidities and evils, giving hope to sentient beings trapped in deep suffering, and some enlightened beings, like Amitabha Buddha, manifested themselves as Buddhas in the pure Pure Land, creating a stable learning environment for the public.
On the path of practice to remove all kinds of suffering, one needs to have experience in practicing in the defiled world, as well as time in the Pure Land. For beginners with weak good karma, in the five defiled worlds, it is hard to have leisure and opportunity, and there are many reasons for retreat. Although they have compassion, they are not strong enough. If they are born in the Pure Land, relying on the favorable conditions, it is easy to improve their practice. Doing so does not mean abandoning sentient beings, but rather deepening their study and increasing their power to benefit sentient beings.
Quickly make a vow to go to the Pure Land, where you will always be guided by good teachers, will not regress on the path to Bodhi, and will surely attain the supreme path.

Act

You must have experience in practicing in this turbid world.
There should also be time for Pure Land practice.

I once visited the statue of "Turning Back Amitabha" at Eikan-do Hall in Kyoto, Japan. When I was chanting Buddha's name and making a wish before the statue, I thought of that touching story.
One morning, while chanting and walking, Monk Yongguan saw a statue of Amitabha Buddha walk down from the altar and walk with him. Monk Yongguan was surprised and amazed, but he saw the statue turned back and stared at him with concern in its eyes. He heard Amitabha Buddha say to him, "Yongguan, you are too slow!"
Later, this statue of Amitabha Buddha looking back has maintained this posture of gazing at those who are chanting the Buddha's name, and has been enshrined to this day.
Looking at this holy statue, I couldn't help but burst into tears when I thought of the cry of "too slow". Amitabha Buddha always has his hands down, and his great compassion is always shining on me. He uses his original vow to save all living beings as his compassionate guide, and he forever embraces all living beings.
Since time immemorial, you and I have experienced thousands of sufferings in this world. Even in the short few decades of this life, it is easy to find that in this world of suffering, there is always more suffering than happiness, and the occasional bit of ease and happiness is always fleeting. If we want to practice and eliminate suffering, we lament that it is difficult to have leisure and freedom, and that there are many obstacles. Only then do we realize how precious the words "Namo Amitabha" are.
In this Dharma-Ending Age when evil karma is rampant, for the vast majority of us who are heavily hindered, even if we put in a lot of effort, the Pure Land Method may be the only method that can lead to success.
If we talk about the power of vows, we lament that our vows are empty and powerless. If we talk about the power of karma, we are even more afraid that we are full of bad karma. Fortunately, we have the power of the original vows of the compassionate teacher to rely on. We must not hesitate and miss the opportunity.
To get a ticket to the Pure Land, to be with the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas all the time and to share in the infinite bliss of the Dharma, one does not have to accumulate all the merits of perfect Buddhahood, but one must accumulate the corresponding good roots, blessings and causes and conditions.
Just as Amitabha Buddha concernedly instructed Monk Yongguan, the Buddhas’ original vows are profound, and we ordinary people must not only have the “wisdom” but also the “ability to follow”. We must recite the Buddha’s name with faith, aspiration, and practice the Three Pure Land Blessings. Only then can we achieve the same goal as all good deeds, be in accordance with Amitabha Buddha’s original vows, and quickly board the great ship of peace and liberation in the vast ocean of suffering.
